日焼け - tan と suntan と sunburn

昨日テニスをしていたら、日焼けをしてしまい顔が少しヒリヒリします(>_<)
ということで、「日焼け」について調べてみました。

「日焼け」で調べてみると、 tan/suntan/sunburn というのが出てきました。

tan
the attractive brown color that someone with pale skin gets after they have been in the sun
[= suntan] 

suntan
brown skin that someone with pale skin gets after they have spent time in the sun
[= tan;  ↪ sunburn] 

sunburn
red and painful skin that you can get from spending too much time in the sun

tan と suntan は同じ意味で「こんがりと焼けた状態の日焼け(キレイに焼けてる)」、sunburn は「赤くヒリヒリした状態を伴う日焼け」を意味するようです。

いずれも

I got a tan. ( a suntan / a sunburn )

I got tanned. ( suntanned / sunburned )

のように言えるようです。ちなみに、今の私の状態は

I got a little sunburned.

です(T_T)

I don't want to get a sunburn!
Don't forget to put on the sunblock!
