Are you up for it? はどういう意味?



レッスンのロールプレイでこんなフレーズが出てきました。
Are you up for a movie Friday night?

Are you up for it?
be up for something で、
~してみたいと思っている?
~興味ある?
~する気ある?
等、その気があるか尋ねる場合に使うカジュアルな表現です。

up for - Wiktionary
1. (idiomatic) Willing to participate in; interested in.

    Are you up for a trip to the library today?

2. (idiomatic) Being or due to be evaluated, inspected, judged, considered, sold, etc., in the stated circumstances or by the stated method.

    He is up for reelection next year, so he will try to control his image.
    He is up for second degree murder.
    It's still up for debate.
    She put her jewelry up for auction.
    My car is up for sale.

ロールプレイでは、「金曜の夜、映画どう?」って誘われていたのでした。

  (あんまり何見する気が無いんだけど、、、)

飲み物が空になった時に「もう1杯いっとく?」と聞く場合にも、 Are you up for it? が使えます。
